Air Norton
Question for Dean guitarists, Dime preferably.?
What do you think about putting a dimebucker in the bridge and an air norton into the neck of an ibanez rg370dx? (super strat style) leaving the single coil with the InfS. Sound like a good idea? I hate the stock Inf humbuckers.
Air Nortons are okay, but I personally don't like the tone of the Dimebuckers. Too much treble, too scooped of mids.
If I was going for Dimebag's tone, I would probably go for one of the "D" pickups from DiMarzio.... D Sonic, D Activator, etc. I'm big on clarity, and they've got good clarity, even when tuned down. Dimebag didn't get his tone from his pickups alone, he got it from his gear. He actually used to flip his Bill Lawrence pickups around to try and tame the high end on his rig, so its not from his pickups that his tone originates, but the interaction of the hardware after it.
