For Sounding Playability The Ibanez Talman TCY10E Has You Covered
The Ibanez Talman TCY10E is a hollow body acoustic electric guitar that possesses many features available in more expensive instruments. Ultimately this instrument has been designed for the guitarist who wants the feel and playability of an electric and the sound of an acoustic. It comes standard with a 2 band equalizer, tied to piezo pickups and rounded off with and on board tuner.
Constructed with a mahogany body and spruce top, this gives it a soft warm tone. Speaking of tone, when you plug it in that is when it really stands out. Its playability and sustain are further enhanced by its rosewood bridge and fret board and sleek mahogany neck.
Surprisingly for an entry level it has advantage bridge pins as well as die cast tuners. The nut and saddle are made from ivorex. The string action comes from the factory set a little high. For those that want to lower it, simply shaving the saddle a little bit does the trick.
Neither is it lacking in the electronics department. It comes with a two band equalizer, AEQ200T preamp and dedicated piezo pickup. It may not have the power and sustain of a humbucker, but it sure sounds clear when you plug it in. Unplugged its sound is reminiscent of early smaller hollow bodies.
Sporting a double cutaway body the neck is playable down to the sound hole. String spacing is close but comfortable. These guitars generally come with a glossy sunburst finish that is sure to draw attention to you wherever you are.
Basically this guitar comes off as a OK design for those all electric players who desire some acoustical sound to mix with their style. Added bonuses are the treble and bass on the equalizer, and a nice volume control. Handling much like an electric and sounding similar to an acoustic the Ibanez Talman TCY10E is a difficult entry level to beat.
