Does anyone know the difference between a single and double coil electric guitar?
a single coil pickup hums a lot because of computer screens, phones, etc... a double coil pickup(or also called a humbucker) has two coils, The two coils have opposite polarity, opposite windings and are connected in series which causes noise and interference to be significantly reduced (hence the name humbucker). A humbucker also has a fatter and warmer sound as opposed to a bright and clear sound from a single coil pickup.
