Why do my "Noiseless" pickups still hum?
I recently bought a used American Deluxe Stratocaster. The pickup cover says SCN, which are not supposed to hum at all. I'm begininng to wonder if they are really SCN's under the cover. Anyone know what may be the problem?
Hi! Is the hum gone in the pickup selector switch positions 2 and 4? If so, the pickups may have been changed. If not, it sounds like a signal ground problem, which could be related to the input jack. Please see http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091024130803AAXYRAq for some remedies. If that does not help, remove the pickguard assembly (see http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylv=3?qid=20081114082743AAni9cl , ignoring the replacement references) and look for loose or missing ground terminations (see http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php for tips).
