DIY Home Theater Installation - The 11 Steps
A properly thought out home theater installation can provide homeowners with a state-of-the-art movie-going experience in the comfort of their very own living room. While there are numerous types of setups available, it's important to note that any method is only as good as the style and location. If you are about to engage in your own DIY home theater installation, this guide will help you get the most from your system.
Step 1 - After you have your system picked out and at the home, the first step is planning out your setup. This comes before unpacking your speakers and moving furniture. Sit down and evaluate your available space to be able to chart out a plan for your new system.
Step 2 - A large part with the location of the system will ultimately be the location with the power outlets. If you're afforded the ability, make an effort to choose a room which is powered by a single person circuit breaker. This will work to reduce damage risks connected with power overloads. Use power strips in order to supplement a limited variety of outlet choices.
Step 3 - The television will obviously function as focal point and heart. As such, this will be the first item you put into place. You need to choose a spot where the screen can be seen straight on. Attempt to make it so the screen is aligned directly using the eyes of the viewer. Creating a screen that is too high or low can make viewing difficult.
Step 4 - Next, locate a place for your speakers. You won't need to hook them up at this time. Try to make them as symmetrical as possible.
Step 5 - Your center channel speaker needs to be placed directly below or above the television.
Step 6 - Place your front right and left speakers on each side of the television at equal distances from the center. Ideally, your front side speakers should match the height of your central speaker.
Step 7 - Add your surround speakers towards the equation, at equal distances too. Point these speakers toward the ceiling or behind the room for the best results. Avoid directing these to your viewing position.
Step 8 - Your subwoofer needs to be situated at the side of the room, roughly halfway involving the television and the optimal viewing position. The bass reaction may be adjusted by moving the subwoofer closer or farther away from the wall. Experiment with the positioning before you are satisfied.
Step 9 - Now it's time to connect your speakers. Do this by running flat cables along the lower portion of your walls or the length of the baseboard.
Step 10 - Before turning anything on, make sure to consult your user's manual. Every method is different and thus, will need different precautions and settings to acquire optimal results.
Step 11 - Much more doubt, simply contact the store where the system was purchased. Most places will be able to trouble shoot together with you over the phone and help ensure that everything is hooked up and running properly.

DIY $13.97 A well informed study that champions the unsung heroes and heroines of DIY distribution in art, music, literary zines and culture. This exploration of lo-fi culture traces the origin of the DIY ethic to the skiffle movement of the 1950s, mail art, Black Mountain poetry and Avant-Garde art in the 1950s, the punk scene of the 1970s and 80s, right the way through to the current music scene. Through interviews with key writers, promoters and musicians (including Bikini Kill and Bratmobile) Amy charts the development of music outside of the publicity machine of the large companies, and examines the politics behind the production of the many 'home-made' recordings and publications available today. |
