Restringing guitar? best strings? tips?

OK, so, I have been learning how to play the guitar for a few weeks now, (teaching myself), and one of my strings finally popped. So I am restringing it, of course.

I just went and bought a few sets of stings. they're all 9s:
Ernie Ball Super slinkys
Dunlop Nickel wound 9s
D'Addario nickel wound XL 9s

What is the best set out of these three? I'm experimenting, but you know, itll be a while before I switch em up. (I orginally went for the EBSS, but they also suggested the other two)

Thats my main question. But any tips on restringing an electric (fender strat knockoff (for now)) are appreciated! I've got a hand crank...

I too am on several guitar forums and this is a frequent question. Strings and picks are really individual preferences. All the strings you named are very good. I have all of those here and some Fender Super Bullets. Also have a couple other brands I picked up on sale. I have several Strats and change strings frequently on the ones that I play most. Frankly, I don't always recall which brand is on which Strat. So if I need to replace a B or high E string (the ones I usually break), I just grab one from my string box. I eally am not big on brands when it comes to strings. I do prefer nickel or nickel plated; they seem to hold against corrosion better than plain steel.

While I am not big on brand names, I am very conscious of the gauge. I think you will find a greater difference in tone and playability between 9s and 11s no matter what brand than you will between 9s Ernie Ball and 9s D'Addrio. 9's are easier to bend and easier to play. 11s have a lot more tone and sustain. 12s have more. 13s have even more but are tough on the fingers. There is a trade-off between ease of play and playability with tone and sustain.

That is where I think you would be experimenting. I have 9-42s on most of my Strats, just because they are easy on my fingers. I have 11s on a couple Strats where I am concerned with the tone. I have 13s on one Strat for the big tone, but they are rough on my fingers. Try different sizes to see how each sound and how each play. Then you can decide on the tradie off between tone and playability.
