For guitar players, a signature guitar of their idols can be the closest thing to getting thier heroes tone, or just another way to cheat you out of an extra £200 just because its a signature guitar. So here we have picked three signature metal beasts that need some attention.
Dimebag Darrells razorback range from Dean guitars. While most guitarists have one signature guitar -Pantera and Damageplan's guitarist has had thirty three done in his honour. After his death in 2004 Dean decided not to let the guitarists name go into obsuricty and bought out a large range of Dimebag Darrell guitars. When the guitar was made will determine which pickups you get in it -either the 'Dimebuckers' in the newer models, or 'EMG's in the older ones. Basically depending on which of the two types of pickups it comes down to suggests that basically take your pick over what you think looks better. If you worship at the alter of Pantera, these are the guitars for you, with prices ranging from £219 to £3500, so make your choice wisely.
BC Rich Kerry King Signature series. Not to be outdone, One half of Slayer's guitaring duo Kerry King, has his own signature range. Available as either a flying V or Explorer shaped guitar as well, painted with tribal designs to match his head tattoos, these guitars look as mean as their owner, but how do they sound? They certainly help you to achieve the brutality of guitar tone needed to play any Slayer song.The range has BC Rich's own brand of pickups in them to give the guitar a little added kick.
The Phil Demell 'demolition' king V Jackson guitar. Created with help from Machine Head's lead guitarist Phil Demell, the Jackson guitar has one hell of a kick to it. The guitar has EMG pickups and is shaped like a flying V and ready to tear your head off. Expensive at £1100m but if you've got your money and love your metal its the guitar to go for, and it comes tuned to drop B as well.
