Electric Guitar Humbucker
Changed electric guitar humbucker pickup and now only has partial volume?
Guitar: BC Rich Warlock. New pickups: Epiphone 57's bridge and neck.
The original pickups were plenty loud, but noisy/messy as heck. Didn't like them. I love the Epiphone 57's in my Epi Les Paul so I got two more and wired them into the Warlock. The new neck pickup sounds decent, but the new bridge pickup sounds like the volume knob is on 1 or 2 at most (it's not). I am not sure how to tell if it's a bad pickup or if I messed up somehow. Any suggestions?
Most likely you made a mistake in the wiring. Just recheck all your wiring and solder connections. Check the height on the bridge pickup. Make sure that it is as close as possible to the strings. If you have a volt meter than measure the resistance of the pickup, this can help you determine if the pickup is faulty. If you cannot determine the cause than you may need to take the guitar in to your local music store.
