Epiphone Tune-0-Matic and unwound third strings?
Just got an Epiphone Dot, lovely guitar, and was setting the intonation on the stock (.010") strings when I found that I almost ran out of play on the adjustment on the third string. I am contemplating going to .011" set with a .018" unwound third string, and wonder if the stock bridge will accommodate this.
I am thinking of lowering the action which will partly help, but I was wondering if someone had experience in this area to advise.
note: To Gibson owners, the bridge on the Epis is of course based on the classic Gibson design, but is mounted at only a slight slant when compared with the practice on Gibsons, and the basic design was made when wound third strings was the norm.

I had the same issue with setting up an Ibanez bass. I wound up lowering the saddle and the intonation was then able to get into tune. On that guitar, it had individual saddles. But if you have enough play to lower the strings, you should work with the string height first, and then move on to the intonation.
