Guitar amp/speaker setup question?
I have a Fender Acoustasonic Junior amplifier with an XLR output (which says "Balanced Line Out") in the back with a level knob. Can I connect that directly to a speaker? I have a special cable with XLR at one end and a standard 1/4" mono at the other. I don't have a speaker to try this out though. Does the speaker need to be powered? Or do I need to run it through a powered mixer or something? I'm hoping that I can just buy a speaker and hook it up, but I have my doubts that it would work.
If it does need to be powered somehow, would I be better off buying a powered speaker or a PA system?
I'm playing in a wedding in a few weeks and I would like there to be a nice sound. I fear that if I only use my amplifier, the sound will be weird.
Depending on how big the venue is, you should be able to get away with running it through some non powered speakers. Just get a xlr to .25 inch stereo or mono depending on how many speakers you want to run.
