Do I need 2 pickups for my guitar?
I am currently building a new guitar. I would like to know if just one pickup would produce the same amount of sound and power as two. The pickup I am planning on using is the Seymour Duncan SH-10 Full Shred. I am on a budget and don't want to use two if I don't have to. I will be putting it in the bridge position and I'm going for a sound more suited to high gain shredding.
In case anyone needs the info, I have been playing for about 2 years and an intermmediate player. I am looking for a heavy-metal sound with a somewhat crunchy distortion and high mids that I can shred with. Hope that helps.
A second pickup would have a good affect on your guitar. But, think about more of if you need it.
If you're a novice guitar player, you need a guitar that works and sounds like music when its played.
If you're an advanced player, you need an upgrade. For advanced players, 2 pickups can be good, but depending on the pickup quality and the type of music you're trying to play, you may need 3, or maybe even 4. If you want heavy metal extreme distortion switch back and forth between lead and rythm, you might wanna look at 3-5 coils (3 pickups).
I'm not too familiar with the Seymour pickups. The best judge in the sound would have to be you since i don't know what you like, how good you are, or what type of music you prefer to play.
