Do Semi/Hollow Guitars work with the Metal option of an amplifier?
Whenever i try using INSANE or METAL options on my acoustic guitar, it blows out a LOUD song and I could feel a hard vibration inside my acoustic guitar, and I'm afraid if it might break my guitar ( the vibration of the Metal option).
Now I want to buy this Ibanez Articore Guitar (Hollow Body Guitar) and it has the acoustic sound, and also a plug in for an amplified sound. I'm a huge clean and metal fan of music. And I wanted to know if you could play METAL on a guitar like this? Will it damage the guitar because it is ment for Blues, Jazz, and Clean songs, and not Metal?
I wouldn't worry about any damage being done. The biggest problem you will have will be feedback.This feedback is caused by the sound and vibrations getting inside the guitar. You need to keep the front of the guitar away from speaker cabinets and monitors.With some practice you can learn to control the feedback and it can actually add another dimension to your sound. Some well placed howls and squeals can actually sound pretty cool. I don't get into metal music too much so I can't really name any players that use hollow bodies for that style. There have been a lot of rock players that use them though, Ted Nugent being one example of a loud hollow body guitar sound. He had that controlled feedback stuff down. Just listen to some of the old ''Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes'' stuff and you will see what I mean.
