Why does my guitar neck pickup buzz when plugged into the amp?
Why does my guitar neck pickup buzz when plugged into the amp, while my other guitars won't? I'm pretty sure my amp's ok, and I tried different cables but still get the same thing. My guitar's neck pickup is a Gibson P-90
Hello there,
Is this a buzz or a single coil hum? The P-90 is a single coil pickup so you can expect the single coil hum from it when it is played alone. If it is a buzz and you are also getting the signal, that would sound like a ground wire problem with that pickup. If you do not get a signal, but get buzz, then the problem is likely in the hot side of the wiring. Does that guitar have more than one pickup. Do you have problem with the other pickups when played alone. Do you have that buzz when the P-90 is played with another pickup.
