Guitar Pickup Height

Removing the Guitar pickup height adjustment screw?

I have a Fernandes guitar with a sustainer pickup at the neck, and I noticed one of the height adjustment screws on the sustainer are stripped and I would like to replace it..Can I just remove it without removing the strings etc.? Is there anything special I need to do with it? Thanks
Just to be clear, it is the screw head that is stripped..

two problems:
- the screw is probably holding a spring in place that will fall inside the guitar when you remove the screw
- how do you know that the screw is stripped instead of the hole it goes into?
Either way, you need to take the whole thing apart in order to fix it. If it's not causing a problem, you're probably better off leaving it alone.
