Gear Review - ModTone Mini-Mods (guitargearheads)
In todays guitar effects market, many companies have transitioned away from
simple, single function, units to pedals containing a huge array of options
for tonal sculpting. It is more common these days to see extra parameter knobs
and toggle switches. While these can be fun pedals to experiment with, they do
tend to have a much higher learning curve, not to mention that they are far
more difficult to adjust on the fly.
One other disadvantage of these more complicated pedals is their subsequent
larger size. With pedal board real estate being at a premium, these pedals can
take up a lot of precious room. A fact that is often under appreciated until
it comes time to map out the signal chain.
In contrast, some companies have ventured in the complete opposite direction
by creating simple effects pedals in a much more efficiently sized chassis.
ModTone Effects is one of these companies. While their standard pedals were
already quite compact, they decided to go even further with their new line of
ModTone Minis.
