Question about Gretsch guitar?
Hey guys, i was wondering if u can get a crunchy overdrive effect with a gretsch guitar? Something that sounds like ACDC or anything hardcore like that. I have a good fender amp with a nice overdrive setting. i was jjust wondering because i know these guitars are used for classic rockabilly type music with a cleaner sound and i wanted to know if i bought one if i would be limited to just that. thanks guys peace
That all depends on the specific gear, and the model. Tim Armstrong from Rancid played a Gretsch for years and years, so you can get a good dirty sound, it just depends on the model. Most hollow body guitars are made to give the robust rockabilly sounds, but there are different models for different things. Then get yourself a good blues pedal or an overdrive pedal, because you'll never get a quality overdrive sound from a regular amp, unless you've got an antique tube amp. Check out that model, though, it'll do you good.
