Patch Lead
how do i go online with my Dell Latitude D530 laptop using a Ethernet patch lead at my university?
still not working, cant get online. confused.
Your Dell has an RJ45 (ethernet port) to accept a patch lead and this will plug in to a port in the wall where you need internet access.
You would normally set the DHCP to be assigned from a local server, this is normally the default so you shouldn't have to do anything unless someone has changed this
If your university provides internet access you may need a password to logon to the internet - their should be details on how to obtain one from the IT department (if its needed). That all there is to it
