Picks Plectrum
Metal bass guitar? Using a pick?
I'm not a bassist myself but i own one and my mate is interested in becoming a bassist and we're going to start up a metal band. As he's never played before and every1 else is quite expirienced, should he use a pick/plectrum, whatever you want 2 call it?
I see alot of people's bass covers on youtube are downgraded and mocked because they use picks, although i am aware that bands such as as i lay dying have their bassist use a pick. I know there is a lot more skill in using your fingers, but you can go 10x fatsre with a pick and its easier for begginers, isnt it?
Go with what works. Your responsibility is to your band and your sound, not the opinions of a bunch of technique snobs.
