Prewired Pickguard
rebuilding an HSS Strat?
OK. I am rebuilding an old Jackson Strat-body electric. It had a humbucker at the bridge and two single coils. Do you think I could replace everything with three single coils? The body has a large space for that humbucker, would this affect the sound in a negative way? I'm not buying a prewired pickguard.
I'm also replacing the neck and tremolo.

It would be best to stay with the original layout of the guitar. You could put in 3 singles, but you'd have to do some tricky cutting, drilling and wiring. It would be much easier to hook a 'tap' switch, or push-pull pot., onto your guitar or knobs; and wire to your humbucker (to make 'single'-coil). Humbuckers give better volume and tone for full-floating tremolo. If you want single coils, the stacked, ceramic, or 'hot-rails' will also be hum-bucking. Make sure you re-wire correctly, also put shielding inside. The extra cavity will improve the acoustic tone.
