Internet Radio: The Little Known Internet Marketing Tactic
Once you have an ecommerce website up and running, the object of Internet marketing is to promote sales and create income from that online shop. There are many strategies you can use to do this. One of the most underexplored is the idea of using live Internet audio broadcasts to encourage fractions of your audience together and influence them to buy your products.
The Talking Magic Show, hosted at TalkingMagic.com, is one such example of this. The show is hosted by magician, entrepreneur and owner of the online magic shop MagicMegaStore.co.uk, Jake Mogul, who broadcasts a two hour show every week.
"We process more orders in those two hours than we do in the rest of the week combined," says Mogul.
And while you might reasonably think otherwise, the equipment required to produce a professional quality online radio show is cheap and easy. All it takes is a bit of software, some microphones and a Skype line.
Using only that equipment, you can create professional quality radio including background music, voice comments from you and even phone ins from special guests.
On top of this, you are going to need a server and while this may be a bit pricier, it is still affordable. Of course, you don't buy your own. You rent one in the same way you rent webspace for your webspace.
Of course, depending on what time you broadcast, it may be inconvenient for your whole audience to tune in live, so it is a good idea to record each show and make it available as a download. You can then list this in other places to pull a larger audience, such as the iTunes directory.
During the show, interactivity is a very important element and crucial to making your online radio show work, and as such it makes sense to make it possible for listeners of the download to take part too. Request questions by email and offer to answer them in next week's show. The idea is to make yourself as accessible as possible.
Finding the right length for your broadcasts is something you will have to experiment with in its infancy. In the first few weeks, your shows will evolve and you will begin to develop a format. Stay on as long as your audience is liking it, but make sure you conclude each show before they get bored.
