Rose Locking Tremolo
How do you restring, a 6-string Floyd Rose (locking tremolo), which has no strings?
The question seems odd. There is a redundancy issue, here and most people would love to sit there and laugh about this. Fortunately I know there are some people out there who know what I mean. I understand that in stringing a Floyd Rose, you need to do it one string at a time, so that the tuning can stay the same and, its actually not that much harder than you basic guitar setup. I also understand that stringing the instrument can be easy, considering that you keep the same tuning. I'm looking to string this guitar (Ibanez RG), that has no strings at all. Could someone help me?
Go ahead and string it up with all six strings. Now for the fun part....hopefully you have a tuner....good....tune the guitar as best you can so that it will stay at least mildly in tune...the bottom part of thefloating bridge should be even with the body of the guitar. If it is not bust out a phillips heads screw driver and you will have to adjust the spring tension in the back of the guitar until it the floating bridge looks even with the body. The guitar will be wildy out of tune and it needs to be retuned again. This may have to be repaeted more than a few times and might take well over an hour to get it just right. When you finally have the tension on the tremelo springs adjusted and it is even with the body of the guitar, tune it one last final time using just the machine heads and then lock the system down and continue tuning using the the fine tuners.
