how am i suppose to dial in my guitar amp?
so im really into playing metal but i cant seem to be able to dial in a good tone it always ends up sounding muddy could anyone here tell me some Doe's and dont's when your dialing or can you recommend some settings

and i also use a Ibanez ts9 tube screamer
First off, remember that the guitar is a midrange instrument--if you cut too much out of the mids, you lose dynamics and presence and turn into a buzzing that disappears in a mix.
The usual way to dial in a tone is to set your EQ knobs to 12 o'clock, turn your gain way down, and set your master volume to a reasonable level. Then, bring up your gain until it gives you the amount of distortion you need. (This will not be all the way up--remember, the most common mistake beginners make is to set their distortion too high.) Then listen to your tone. Is it too bright? Then turn down your treble. Too muddy? Turn down your bass. Remember--mix with your ears, not your eyes. It doesn't matter whether you end up with your bass on 0 and mids on 10 and everybody gives you weird looks, so long as it sounds good.
