Tele Style Guitar
Are there any electric guitar strings that are NOT made of nickel or steel?
I have recently been struggling with Excema, which is a skin condition that is incredibly painful. After many tests, etc..., It has been determined that I am allergic to nickel. The irony is I am a professional guitarist, and have been plyaing for over 30 years. Yeah, major bummer.
So, while I can certainly contemplate a new career as a Nylon-String guitarist, I am hoping to find a way to continue playing Blues, R&B, Rock, etc.. with the solid body Strat / Tele style guitars I am most accustom to. Of course, the kicker is, if the strings are not made of some kind of metal, the pickups would not work properly. At least not in a solid-body guitar, yhou need a microphoic pickup then.
Question: Do you know of a brand of strings that are not made of Nickel or Steel, OR that are 100% coated with something that would completely insulate my fingers from the metal?
Bummed out, but appreciative of any suggestions or advice.

I don't know if that will do the trick, but it is worth a shot, particularly if the choice is between using them and not playing.
If that doesn't work, you could maybe try playing with thin latex medical gloves on your hands. Tony Iommi lost his finger tips on his right hand (he is left handed) and he managed to play pretty well with prosthesis's on his finger tips using very light strings (.08s) tuned down a full step.
Bummer dude, but don't give up. You can overcome it.
Edit: Lindsey Buckingham rocked pretty hard in Fleetwood Mac using a nylon string guitar. If nothing else works, just use a nylon string guitar and be creative with your pedals and amp to get a rock sound.
Don't give up. You can do it. It's been done before.
