Which type of strings to use for playing the upright bass?
I am doing a lot of big band/jazz/rock-a-billy type music on my upright & am using flat wound steel strings. Are these the right strings to use, or should I be using the yellow fiber strings, and are those nylon or cat gut, I don't know what to call them. I am using my fingers, hardly ever a bow. Steel or nylon, which work the best ?
What kind of Ernie Ball strings, steel or nylon? I am looking for which type of string is better for plucking vs. bowing. Steel or nylon, or something else?
Cat Gut sounds the best, especially when plucking.
